The BC Vaccine Card goes live in British Columbia today.

Where do you need it? How do you get it? What if the website isn’t working?

We’ve compiled a list of places where you’ll need the card, how to apply, and what you can do if you’re having technical issues.

To get your digital BC Vaccine Card, visit the BC Health Gateway. For the first phase, which lasts until October 24, you only need to have one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine.

After that date, you will need to be fully vaccinated.

To apply, you’ll need your name, your date of birth, your personal health number, and the date you were vaccinated. (If you do not know your personal health number, you can call BC services at 1-833-838-2323. You can also call this number to have a copy of your card mailed to you.)

If you complete the application on your smartphone, you can take a screenshot of your QR code for easy access.

It should look something like this:

If the website isn’t working for you, the good news is that BC health officials have provided a grace period where you can use the card you received when you got your vaccine, which includes your immunization record from a pharmacy.

This grace period only lasts until September 26.

You will need to present your BC Vaccine Card, along with a valid piece of government-issued photo ID, at the following venues:

  • Indoor ticketed sporting events
  • Indoor concerts
  • Indoor theatre, dance and symphony events
  • Restaurants (indoor and patio dining, excludes fast-food restaurants)
  • Nightclubs
  • Casinos
  • Movie theatres
  • Fitness centres and gyms (excluding youth recreational sports)
  • Businesses offering indoor high-intensity group exercise activities
  • Organized indoor events (weddings, parties, conferences, meetings, workshops)
  • Discretionary organized indoor group recreational classes and activities

Fines may be issued for anyone found in violation of these new rules.
