This dance party ends at 11 pm so you can be in bed at a reasonable hour

If you feel you’re too tired and maybe a bit too old for the city’s clubbing scene, there’s now a Vancouver dance party that ends at 11 pm.

Aunt Flo’s 90s dance party for grown-ups is returning on November 1 at The Permanent for a post-Halloween shin-dig, with no children.

The event promises “silky smooth beats from DJ Niña Mendoza delicious cocktails by The Permanent, grown-up wine – for grown-ass folk… and candy NOT stolen from children.”

Costumes are “welcome” but “absolutely not mandatory.”

Founded by Vivian McCormick of Flax Sleep and Louisa Cohen of The Permanent, this is the second Aunt Flo Dance Party that has taken place in Vancouver.

“It all started when we (the ladies of Flax Sleep and Louisa) were lamenting about how there was nowhere to go dancing, to music we know and love. Oh, and going out at 10 pm is not a thing for us anymore and being home by midnight is winning!” she told Daily Hive.

McCormick says the reaction to the event has been positive since the first Aunt Flo Dance party held last month.

“At first, we really weren’t sure if there would be others who also wanted a party like this, but then – all these people started coming through the door who we didn’t know! The biggest group was a crew of 18 ladies, so amazing.”

She says it’s not just middle-aged folks that want to party and head home early.

“You’d think it would be all older people who no longer go to clubs, but it was a total age range. And yes, given the name Aunt Flo there were lots of ladies there for Vol. 1 but it’s for everyone!”
