There's a butterfly festival happening in Toronto next month

Monarch butterflies don’t like to spend their winters in Canada.

In other words, they’re smart.

And to help celebrate the start of their 3,500 km migration south to Mexico for a winter filled with sun and warm temperatures, Tommy Thompson Park is hosting its 10th annual Butterfly Festival next month.

On Saturday, August 18, visitors can learn about these beautiful flying insects through many activities, nature hikes, and educational displays, while discovering the more than 55 species of butterflies recorded at the park to date.

This fun family event is free and everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the incredible migration of the Monarch Butterfly.

Parking for this event is free and available on Unwin Avenue, Leslie Street and in the Tommy Thompson Park parking lot.
