Walking is one of the best ways to stay active, according to the Government of Canada.

And with COVID-19 hitting many of our communities, resulting in the closures of fitness facilities across the country, walking is one of the few ways to continue being active safely, while hopefully getting some Vitamin D.

Now, Apple Fitness+ has also launched a new audio walking experience to help you get moving.

Time to Walk is the latest Fitness+ experience launched on Apple watch, and it was “created to encourage users to walk more often and reap the benefits from one of the healthiest activities.”

According to Apple, each original Time to Walk episode (which range in time from 25-40 mins) invites users to immerse themselves in a walk alongside influential and interesting people as they share thoughtful and meaningful stories, photos, and music.

The first episodes announced are from Canadian musician Shawn Mendes, Country music star Dolly Parton, NBA player Draymond Green, and Emmy Award winner Uzo Aduba.

“Taking a walk is a great way to clear your mind,” Mendes says. “It’s the most simple thing you can do to calm the body and soul, reflect, and slow down. I hope people get to feel the same sense of calm I do while walking and can bring that to their own experiences.”

New episodes will be launched with a different guest each Monday through the end of April.

“Walking is the most popular physical activity in the world, and one of the healthiest things we can do for our bodies. A walk can often be more than just exercise: It can help clear the mind, solve a problem, or welcome a new perspective,” said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of Fitness Technologies.

“Even throughout this challenging period of time, one activity that has remained available to many is walking.”

So get outside, enjoy the sun, and a walk with our very own, Shawn Mendes.
