Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have donated $500,000 to Covenant House charities in Vancouver and Toronto.

The couple gave $250,000 to outposts in each city, according to a Facebook post by Covenant House Vancouver. The money will be used to support homeless, at-risk, and trafficked youth across Canada.

The social media post called the donation “an incredible act of kindness and philanthropy.”

“Ryan Reynolds has been a long-time friend to Covenant House and truly believes in supporting vulnerable youth,” the post says of the BC native.

Covenant House Vancouver says Reynolds and Lively have used their donation as a matching gift. Any donation made before December 31, 2020 (up to $375,000), will be matched as part of the organization’s Triple Match Challenge.

“Now more than ever, you have a special opportunity to be the driving force of hope and love for a young person trying to overcome the challenges of homelessness.”

In another act of kindness, Reynolds recently sent a surprise birthday message to a young British Columbian fan.
