Fall basics: It's Pumpkin Spice Latte season, OMG YAY!

Sep 1 2016, 2:44 am

Dust off your Uggs, wrap that cute scarf around your neck, and get ready to selfie: It’s Pumpkin Spice Latte season, bitches!

Your friendly local Starbucks barista has the okay to start pulling the shots, frothing up the milk, and pumping in that bewitching oh-so-autumnal PSL syrup as of September 6, so set your iCal reminder that it’s soon time to post navel-gazing Instagram shots of falling leaves.

You’ll also want to brush up on your PSL trivia, if only to firm up where you stand in the very important annual debate about why it’s not necessary to have actual pumpkin in the drink, because hey, guys those sweet, spicy, autumn in your mouth flavours come from pumpkin pie spices, mmmmkay?

That said, it’s important for those about to launch themselves head-on into PSL mode that Starbucks introduced a new PSL recipe last year, and this one (hold onto your hand-knit beanie from Etsy) is made with, like, actual pumpkin. Take that, haters!

Now, if the PSL isn’t your speed, but your Tinder date insists on meeting you at Starbucks and you just.can’t.even, you could choose from Starbucks’ other two fall drinks. They’re bringing back the Salted Caramel Latte (Mocha sauce and toffee nut syrup with espresso and steamed milk, topped with whipped cream, caramel sauce and sea-salt topping) and are launching a new one, too; the Chile Mocha.

According to Starbucks HQ, the Chile Mocha “combines Starbucks signature espresso with cocoa and spice infused steamed milk, topped with whipped cream and a spiced mocha topping including ancho and cayenne pepper.” So, yes, there is really chile in it. Spicy!

Get ready to get warm: you’ve got your fall basics.
