Toronto's Jamaican-Chinese eatery Patois reopens today

Patois is finally reopening!

The Caribbean-Asian joint on Dundas West has been closed for over a year following a devastating fire, but will be back in business as of today.

When reached by Daily Hive, owner Craig Wong shares that it’s “super gratifying to be back,” and that while he’s missed the food and the vibe of the original, he and his team have grown and matured since first opening in 2014 and the food has benefited.

Patois-2.0 revisits old favourites like the Jamaican Patty Double Down and O.G. Fried Chicken & Watermelon Pickle, as well as introduces new menu items including churrasco jerk chicken, pork, and pork belly, slowly smoked in custom cooker hooked up by neighbouring business owner, Nick Chen-Yin of Smoke Signals BBQ.

To start, the restaurant will be open Tuesday through to Sunday for dinner only. With luck, the brunch menu (formerly home to Jamaican Patty Benedicts) will make its return in the months to come.
