The final Jeopardy! episode filmed by longtime host Alex Trebek featured a touching homage to the late TV personality.

A 90-second montage of Trebek over the years played out following the show’s January 8 episode. The video was also shared on the official Jeopardy! Twitter account.

It’s the last episode Trebek taped before his death on November 8, 2020, following an 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He had been hosting the show since 1984 and was still filming new episodes days before he died.

The montage features clips of Trebek throughout the 37 seasons he led the quiz, including one where he’s dressed as a member of the band Kiss, and another where he impersonates Elvis.

A younger-looking Trebek brings his kids on stage for “family visiting day,” and an older one jokingly arm-wrestles a contestant. In each clip, he is laughing, smiling, and joking with the show’s players.

The video ends with Trebek’s signature sign-off as he bids the audience one final “So long, everybody.”

Starting on January 11, a series of guest hosts will fill in for Trebek before a permanent replacement is announced. Ken Jennings, who holds the longest Jeopardy! winning streak, will be the first stand-in.
