Torontonians may catch a glimpse of Pennywise this summer — and no, not on the big screen.

Following its record-breaking box office run that grossed $700 million worldwide, it’s been confirmed that IT: Chapter 2 will begin filming this July and Toronto will once again transform into the sleepy town of Derry.

According to Coming Soon, the script is currently being finalized and locations are being scouted in anticipation of shooting.

IT: Chapter 2 will pick up with the members of the Losers’ Club having to deal with Pennywise’s return to Derry, 27 years after their initial encounter, reports IMDB.

Currently, the only two returning cast members are Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise and Jackson Robert Scott as Georgie, although IMDB is showing the original young crew of the Losers’ Club are rumoured to make appearances.

As for the adult roles, IMDB has listed Academy Award-nominated actress Jessica Chastain as adult Beverly.

This move doesn’t come as a surprise, as Chastain has an existing relationship with IT’s director Andy Muschietti, who worked with her on the 2013 chiller Mama.

IT: Chapter 2 is set to arrive in theatres on September 6, 2019.
