Instagram changing its feed to be more chronological again

Instagram users are about to get a welcome change to feeds.

According to the social media app, on Thursday, it began testing a “New Posts” button that allows you to choose when you want to refresh, rather than the app doing it automatically.

“We’re introducing changes to give you more control over your feed and ensure the posts you see are timely,”said Instagram in a post. “We’ve heard it can feel unexpected when your feed refreshes and automatically bumps you to the top.”

Once the button rolls out, users can tap it and will be taken to new posts at the top of feed. If the button isn’t tapped, the feed will remain where it is.

“With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about,” wrote Instagram, who also said they would be sharing more improvements over the next few months.

“We hope this makes browsing Instagram much more enjoyable.”

We hope so, too.

As of Friday morning, Daily Hive staff checked out the updated app on our phones, but the button wasn’t available yet.
