Iceberg season has officially begun in Newfoundland (PHOTOS)
The early appearance of an iceberg visible from St. John’s iconic Signal Hill has kicked off this year’s iceberg season.
Local residents are looking forward to future icebergs that will float by as many tourists travel to the region in hopes of catching a glimpse of the massive ice giants that took over 10,000 years to pay a visit.

With more than 29,000 kilometres of coastline, and a number of stunning icebergs for you to see, iceberg watching is certainly something to add to your Canadian bucket list.
The icebergs come through Iceberg Alley from spring to early summer. As you move north, the season stretches a bit longer, and April and May are the months when the icebergs are most plentiful.
