Honda recalling over 80,000 vehicles with dangerous airbags in Canada

Honda is recalling over 80,000 vehicles in Canada due to dangerous airbags.

According to Transport Canada, there could be a problem with the driver’s front airbag inflator on certain Honda and Acura models.

“This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, pieces could be propelled toward the occupants,” said Transport Canada.

Additionally, Transport Canada says this could also cause damage to the airbag assembly and prevent it from inflating properly.

The models include cars, light trucks and vans, minivans and SUVs that are from as old as 2001 and as recent as 2010.

There are 83,977 vehicles involved in the recall.

Transport Canada says this recall only affects certain vehicles that had a Takata airbag inflator installed during a previous airbag recall or collision repair.
