The end of an era! The well-known and beloved buffet-style Italian restaurant Frankie Tomatto has officially shut down after 25 years.

The restaurant, located at 7225 Woodbine Ave in Markham, has decided to make the difficult decision to shut down permanently.

As the pandemic continues to loom over Toronto businesses, its uncertainty has left several businesses with the inability to stay afloat; however, Frankie Tomatto’s is saying good-bye the best way they can.

“After 25 years, 11 million meals served and countless memories we are closing our doors,” said the restaurant.

“As a thank you to all our customers over the years, we will be giving away free pizzas in our parking lot (Drive in with vehicle only).”

Each car that arrives will be given a free pizza and a souvenir gift on August 29 from 11:30 am to 3 pm.

The restaurant vows to donate $1 for every car to the Easter Seals.

The buffet-style restaurant had previously set to reopen once regulations were lifted one they received word from the province; however, it has been difficult for the family-favourite locale to manage during these times.
