Get ready Toronto, a TTC fare hike comes into effect today.

Starting on April 1, the TTC is hiking fares by 10 cents as part of its 2019 budget.

The price increase means tokens and PRESTO fares would go up to $3.10, from its current $3, while adult cash fares will remain unchanged at $3.25.

Besides the fare per ride, the TTC’s 12-month pass on PRESTO is also going up.

As of April 1, 2019, the monthly cost of your 12-month pass will increase from $134 to $138.55 per month, for an adult pass, and from $107 to $112.25 per month, for a youth/senior pass, according to the TTC.

The TTC 12 Month Pass is an annual pass that provides unlimited travel across the TTC. It requires a 12-month commitment for which you pay monthly at a discounted rate. This pass is a replacement for the TTC’s Metropass Discount Plan (MDP).

The hike will also affect the monthly Metropass, which will go from $146.25 to $151.15 on April 1.

Fares did not rise in 2018, and the TTC says that their board approved the TTC’s $10.3 billion 2019-2028 capital budget that invests in longer-term projects to reduce crowding, keep the system in a state of good repair, improve accessibility, purchase new vehicles and build the Line 2 East Extension.
