Toronto's sex doll brothel has lease cancelled just one week before opening

Toronto was about to be known for having North America’s first sex doll brothel… but it turns out this move was a little premature.

Days before its scheduled opening on September 8, Aura Dolls, where customers can pay for sexual services with high tech, silicone dolls, has been labeled “illegal.”

Toronto Coun. John Filion said he had received a “very large number” of phone calls and emails in response to the sex doll brothel opening by Yonge and Cameron.

“In response, I immediately visited the site and had several meetings with City staff, determining that this business was illegal at this location,” he shared on Facebook. “Stemming from a motion I made back in the former City of North York, ‘Adult Entertainment Parlours’ are not allowed anywhere in Willowdale.”

Filion also confirmed that the lease for the establishment has been cancelled.

Aura Dolls’ website claims its services are the first of their kind in North America, offering customers “an exciting new way to achieve your needs without the many restrictions and limitations that a real partner may come with.”

As of August 30, Aura Dolls’ website was still up and running, with the opening date still listed as September 8.
