BC-based women’s fashion retailer Aritzia Inc. is experimenting with adding more sizes to its range, starting by offering size 14 and 16 in certain items.

Aritzia’s spring 2020 Babaton collection will go up to size 16, a company spokesperson told Daily Hive via email. The launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the larger sizes will be available online and at select stores.

“We’ve recognized that there’s been a shift in the fashion industry, and a push into more inclusivity throughout society and in the fashion business,” senior public relations manager Anna Cordon said.

Aritzia currently offers its items up to size 10 or 12.

The company recently reported solid financial results from the final quarter of 2019, with its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization increasing 2.4% compared to the same three-month period last year.

Aritzia also saw record Black Friday sales in 2019, founder and CEO Brian Hill said, led by a surge in e-commerce in the US.

Offering more sizes is the store’s latest example of trying something new. Earlier in 2019, Aritzia released a version of its puffer jacket for men, its first-ever mens fashion offering in the company’s 35-year history. It also released a version of the jacket for dogs.
