The five-year-old girl subject of this afternoon’s Amber Alert in the Toronto area has been found safe.

On Tuesday, March 19, around 3 pm, police responded to Armadale Public School located at 11 Coppard Avenue in Markham, after school staff called to report that Jannah Jaffri was allegedly abducted from her classroom by her father. According to police, the father is not supposed to have access to the child.

At approximately 6:12 pm, York Regional Police tweeted that Jannah was found in good health. Her father, 25-year-old  Soloman Jaffri, has been taken into custody.

“Thank you to our community for your assistance in bringing Jannah home safely,” said police.
