This luxury Whistler getaway has rooftop hot tubs and champagne manicures

When planning a weekend away from Vancouver, the usual getaway ideas tend to come up: wine touring in the Okanagan, renting a cabin on the Island, or travelling south over the border.

But when you only have so many opportunities to get away with your friends or partner, you want your trip to be as unique as possible. You want it to be something you brag about around the water cooler or post endless pictures of on Instagram, causing your friends to ask “Where is this place??”

The answer? Nita Lake Lodge.

Located 500 metres from the base of Whistler Mountain and the Creekside gondola, the Lodge sits along the southern shore of glacial-fed Nita Lake. The building itself looks like it’s been pulled straight from a postcard, with traditional chalet-style architecture set against a backdrop of snow-dusted trees in the winter and a glistening lake in the summer.

But it’s what’s inside that sets this destination apart. From chalet-style amenities, to endless lakeside dining options, to a luxury spa with champagne mani-pedi services, here’s why Nita Lake Lodge is at the top of our road trip bucket list this year.

Suite accommodations

The Lodge bills itself as a boutique hotel, featuring just 77 rooms stretched across the side of Nita Lake. Still, there are plenty of rooming options for your party to choose from.

The most modest suite is still larger than many apartments in Vancouver, coming in at 500 sq. ft. If you’re planning to stay with few friends (bachelorette party in your future?), we highly recommend checking out the Glade Suite. This two-storey space comes fully decked out with a private rooftop patio that has gorgeous views of Whistler mountain.

No matter which room you choose, each is equipped with different luxury features worth writing home about. Think basalt gas fireplaces, double soaker tubs, plate glass rain showers, luxurious king-size beds, and in one instance, a private elevator entrance!

A perfect night at the Lodge has to end with a late-night dip in the plunge pool, followed by a soak in the hot tub. If you’re lucky enough to visit during a snowfall, you can lean back, float, and watch as new snowflakes drift in and out of view before blinking out of existence on the pool’s warm surface. It’s a truly meditative (and exceptionally Canadian!) experience if there ever was one.

Savour Canadian cuisine

Aura Restaurant/Nita Lake Lodge

The hotel is home to not just one, but three spots to taste the best of Canadian cuisine. Looking to fuel up before hitting the slopes? Fix Café has you covered with a wide spread of soups and sandwiches, cold-pressed juice and smoothies, and fresh-baked artisan bread.

Winding down with some après-ski bevvies? Our best tip is to grab a spot around the glass-enclosed fire pits at Cure Lounge & Patio for possibly the most Insta-worthy moment of your stay.

And no visit to Nita is complete without a visit to Aura Restaurant. The menu invites West Coast flavours to mingle with traditional French cooking techniques, resulting in drool-worthy dishes like burrata cheese with honey-glazed roasted beets and pan-seared sea scallops. Do yourself a favour and order the duck confit gnocchi.

If you still want to explore the Village after dinner, the Lodge offers a complimentary shuttle service that will take you straight into the heart of Whistler’s epic nightlife. But with all the cozy spots to sip and relax at the hotel, you really don’t need to.

Sip while you spa

Newly renovated and expanded, the Spa at Nita Lake Lodge is popular among guests and Whistler locals alike. After chatting with the staff, it’s clear why.

The full-service organic spa boasts luxury features and mid-century modern finishings, but the space itself has a laid-back vibe that you look for when booking a massage or a manicure. As you sip on a tea or coffee, it’s easy to feel like you’re chatting with friends, rather than an aesthetician who you just met.

But if you and the gang want to take things up a notch, the spa recently partnered with historic champagne house Moet & Chandon to offer a champagne mani-pedi service. That’s right, you can sit back, watch the snow fall, and get your nails done as you sip on a mini Moet — either in a glass or through a champagne spout that attaches directly to the bottle.

It’s highly recommended to make the most out of your spa day by taking advantage of the rooftop hot tubs, eucalyptus steam room, and mountain view relaxation lounge (available with any treatment booked at The Spa). Oo, you fancy!

Are you bubbling over with anticipation? Right now, you can book a Champagne Spa & Stay package at Nita Lake Lodge, which includes one night of accommodation in a suite of your choice with 20% off best available rate, plus $40 off a Champagne Manicure or Pedicure at The Champagne Nail Bar.

There’s so much to see and do during a stay at Nita Lake Lodge, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Visit their website and follow the hotel on Instagram and Facebook to begin dreaming up your Whistler weekend getaway.
