A college student created a face mask for the hearing-impaired

Ashley Lawrence was concerned with how face masks may hinder individuals with hearing disabilities from being able to communicate. So, with the help of her mother, she decided to take matters into her own hands, literally. Lawrence sewed face masks with a transparent plastic window over the wearer’s mouth so that those with hearing impairments could still read lips as a means of communicating and shipped them to dozens of hospitals and deaf individuals for free. She even started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for materials, shipping, and handling but stopped the fundraising just two days later after she reached her goal of $3,300.

A worldwide teddy bear hunt is taking place to help distract the millions of children affected by government lockdowns. Plush toys are being placed in windows to provide children with entertainment as well as exercise as they walk around their neighborhoods with their parents. Inspiration for the hunt comes from We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, a children’s book by British author Michael Rosen.

Staying inside and maintaining physical distancing is a challenge for adults. Children, on the other hand, have the dual anxiety of not fully understanding why all of this is happening. Ashley Selleck shared photos on Twitter to show how her husband is keeping their daughters entertained while social distancing. He created a “mini quarangolf” course! Not only is it a great way to spend time outside, but it also provides a fun and creative distraction for the whole family.

Twitter user TexastoDC posted an adorable video online that shows how “Not even #Covid can come in between Bobo’s story time,” and our hearts basically exploded. The video shows “Bobo” maintaining the recommended amount of distance as he reads to his grandchild from a book that he brought with him while they sit and listen from the family’s front porch. This precious moment only goes to show that even though we must stay apart, there are still ways that we can come together.
Stockport Spider-Man brings joy to children in quarantine

The town of Stockport, located in the Greater Manchester area of the UK, has its very own web-slinging Spider-Man whose only mission is to bring hope and joy to children under quarantine. Jason Baird, a martial arts teacher, randomly decided to dress up as Spider-Man for his daily jog to cheer up local children currently in isolation. As he jogged by, kids flocked to their windows to catch a glimpse of their friendly neighborhood Spidey waving hello. Even the mayor of Stockport got involved and enlisted the services of Spider-Man to make sure that all children are staying home and smiling.
Matthew McConaughey hosted virtual bingo for a senior care home
Alright, alright, alright, that’s a bingo! Hollywood superstar Matthew McConaughey lent his services to host a round of virtual bingo for the residents of The Enclave at Rock Senior Living with his family, including his wife, Camila, and mother, Kay. Along with calling the numbers, residents were also able to speak with McConaughey and learn more about his family heritage as well as his favorite drink.
