Sherbrooke, Quebec, has been as Canada’s Most Entrepreneurial Community of 2017 by Futurpreneur Canada at Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW).

Sherbrooke was awarded the title for its work in fostering a growing entrepreneurial community. The city hosted 39 Global Entrepreneurship Week events, several workshops, and Dragons’ Den style pitch competition through the Bishop’s University Enactus chapter.

“This was our third year participating in Global Entrepreneurship Week; we have seen more and more entrepreneurs and organizations getting involved, coming out to meet the rest of the community,” said Julie Plamondon, Coordinator of Entreprendre Sherbrooke, in a statement.

“This year, a total of over 1,600 people attended our activities. GEW is a great opportunity to rally our community [and is] a chance to see engagement efforts take on more concrete forms.”

GEW took place from November 13 to 19 at various locations around the world. Approximately 10 million people in 160 countries participate in GEW events and competitions around the globe.
