Anyone interested in living in the palatial Toronto mansion that was featured in Schitt’s Creek will now have to fork over an additional $5 million.

The 24,000-square-foot home located at 30 Fifeshire Road was used as the filming location for the Rose’s family home before they lost everything and had to move into a motel. It was listed earlier this year for a whopping $14,980,000, but the sellers have now raised the price to an even steeper $19,880,000.

The York Mills area home, also known as La Belle Mansion, was built in 2012 and was inspired by the Palace of Versailles. It has a staggering 12 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, and is outfitted with an in-home theatre, wine cellar, billiard room, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, golf simulator, and gym.

Zoocasa agent Emma Pace says that this new higher price may be in response to the skyrocketing real estate market.

“Given the appreciation in the overall market, it may be a strategy and attempt by the sellers and listing agent to capture a larger increase based on the demand that we have seen in the first quarter of 2021,” Pace told Daily Hive.

“This particular segment of the market can be one that is difficult to analyze given that, with a price tag of nearly $20 million, the buyer pool isn’t quite as deep,” Pace said. “All of that said, this truly is a one of a kind, state of the art property.”

The property has been listed on and off for a few years. It was originally listed in November 2018 for $21,788,000. In 2019, the asking price was lowered $19,880,000 — the same as what it is now. It was then re-listed in 2020 for $16,880,000 before being further dropped to $14,980,000.

The neighbourhood that the Schitt’s Creek mansion is in — St-Andrew Windfields — is anything but cheap, even for much smaller homes.

“Entry-level homes in this neighbourhood, often requiring substantial improvements to meet modern day standards, will start in the low to mid $2,000,000 range,” Pace said.

And because of its steep prices, Pace says the neighbourhood is home to some of Toronto’s most affluent residents.

“Neighbouring both Bridle Path and Hoggs Hollow, it makes sense to see properties of this magnitude and luxury listed in this particular location,” she said.

With all things considered, if you were already interested in buying a $15 million house, what’s another $5 million?
