YUL EAT Festival – 2019

It seems like Montreal is saving its biggest food festival for last.

The YUL EAT Festival returns for its sixth edition today, giving Montrealers one last big food fest to cap off the summer.

From different culinary themed nights, to the “Parcours Gourmand” grand tasting experience, hands-on workshops, demonstrations, conferences, a pop-up restaurant, wines, beers, and cocktails, YUL EAT offers up a little something for everyone.

Free outdoor activities include the Breville Lab, the General Store, the Ford Smokehouse pop-up restaurant, Chope-Chope (beers from Brasseur de Montréal and Creemore Springs), Tchin-Tchin wine and Shake-Shake cocktail bars.

World Press Photo Exposition

The World Press Photo exhibition has returned to Montreal for its month-long run at Marché Bonsecours.

The worldwide tour showcases the stories that matter through photography.

The 2019 exhibition features the World Press Photo of the Year, and for the first time, the World Press Photo Story of the Year. The winners were chosen by an independent jury that reviewed more than 78,801 photographs entered by 4,738 photographers from 129 countries.

The World’s Smallest Open Mic

If you want to start your week off with some laughs, give The World’s Smallest Open Mic some consideration.

Local comedians Walter J Lyng and Vance Michel host what they call “the smallest open mic show in the world.” The acts aren’t small, the venue is.

The show’s featured acts include a stacked local lineup including Bashar Bashar, Elspeth Wright, Abby Stonehouse, Ben Cardilli and Oren Shbiro as the headliner.

The event organizers warn that only 20 seats are available. Cozy, intimate stand-up comedy is the best kind.

McKibbin’s Pub Stumpers

Test your trivia knowledge at McKibbin’s Irish Pub. The pub’s trivia has five rounds: general knowledge multiple-choice, short answer, a picture round, and a music round. The winner of each round receives free drinks or a round of shots. A round for a round – good trade.

Through the Echoes

The first-of-its-kind pyramid-shaped entertainment venue, PY1, created by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté continues its showing all month.

The innovative venue will offer a multi-sensory experience, state-of-the-art technology and “a unique playground” for multimedia entertainment combining high tech with the talent of the greatest digital creators.

The PY1 experience made its worldwide debut with Through the Echoes, a show produced exclusively for the pyramid last month, located near the Clock Tower grounds in the Old Port.
