A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with threats that were made against a city councillor in Surrey, BC, as well as against the Prime Minister, police said on Thursday.

According to Surrey RCMP, the arrest comes after police were notified on November 23 that “threats of violence” were made toward the councillor and the Prime Minister. They did not specify where or how the threats were made.

Police launched an investigation, and on November 25, a suspect was arrested for two counts of uttering threats. The suspect was released later that day on conditions with a court date scheduled for the new year. He was not previously known to the police.

In the wake of the arrest, police ask anyone who may have further information about the incident to contact them at 604-599-0502, or if they wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online.
