Now that foldable smartphones are on the way, a multinational Chinese tech company has unveiled the new technology on a bigger scale.

Today, Lenovo has released its preview and demo of the world’s first foldable PC.

“This is not a phone, tablet, or familiar hybrid; this is a full-fledged laptop with a foldable screen,” reads Lenovo’s press release. “Made for highly mobile, tech-savvy professionals who demand the best tools, the new foldable PC joins the premium ThinkPad X1 family, promising that the unprecedented portability will in no way compromise productivity and reliability.”

The ThinkPad X1 has a standard 13.3-inch laptop screen that can completely fold in half, reducing its size to 50%.

Made in collaboration with LG Display, this Intel-powered laptop, with Windows operating system, is a “re-imagining of personalized computing,” according to Lenovo.

Lenovo wants to take the traditional laptop’s large and comfortable screen but make it easily travelable.

“This space-saving ThinkPad combines laptop productivity with smartphone portability to fold into your lifestyle like never before,” concludes the company’s press release.

Though functional specifications have yet to be detailed, Lenovo says the foldable laptop will be available for purchase in 2020 and urges buyers to “stay tuned for full product details.”
