Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek says his stage 4 pancreatic cancer is “near remission” just three months after he announced his diagnosis.

Trebek shared the positive news with People Magazine in an interview published on May 29.

“It’s kind of mind-boggling,” Trebek, 78, told People. “The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50%.”

In March, Trebek revealed that he was battling the disease.

“Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Now, normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working,” he said in a video posted on YouTube.

Trebek told People that despite showing strong signs of recovery, he will have to go through “several more rounds of chemotherapy to hopefully get into full remission.”

He also thanked his fans and friends from around the world for their continued love and support.

“I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers,” Trebek said.

“I’ve got a lot of love out there headed in my direction and a lot of prayer, and I will never ever minimize the value of that.”
