After launching it in 2014, Ivanka Trump announced on Tuesday that she is closing down the clothing line that bears her name.
According to a report from The New York Post, the company will shutter operations “ASAP.”
In a statement to the New York Post, Ivanka said that “after 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington.”
Ivanka’s fashion line was dropped by Hudson’s Bay earlier this month, citing “poor performanceâ as the reason for their decision.
âHudsonâs Bay is phasing out this brand through the fall based on its performance,â said company spokesperson Spencer Waybright in a statement sent to Daily Hive.
âAs part of our regular course of business, we review our merchandise offerings and make appropriate changes.â
According to the Ivanka Trump website, the brand focuses on âcreating a line of chic, affordable, easy to wear pieces for modern womenâthose who might not have the luxury of a wardrobe change to match the many different hats they wear throughout the day.â
Last year, Hudsonâs Bay became one of the top 10 most boycottable companies in the #GrabYourWallet campaign to get stores to stop selling Trump products.
