The debut Montréal show of Vancouver-based artist Wallgrin.
Harsh screeches, angelic choirs, mangled noises and soaring strings — Wallgrin creates a contemporary soundtrack for ancient mythologies. The art-pop solo project of composer, vocalist and violinist Tegan Wahlgren, Wallgrin delves into the space between beauty and dissonance through layers of strings and exploratory vocals. Drawing from an array of musical influences — including fiddling and choral singing — Wallgrin melds fragments of myths to form the music of an indistinct and personal folklore.
With Corey Gulkin:
Multi-instrumentalist Corey Gulkin (formerly Corinna Rose), is among the new cohort of talent emerging from the burgeoning Montreal music scene. She is best known for her experimental, dark, and intricate songwriting, as well as an off-kilter sense of rhythm and unconventional song structure. Joined by Leah Dolgoy and Sam Gleason, the eccentric trio of banjo, harp and electric guitar twists the fabric of the folk genre, with Gulkin’s warm and powerful melodies weaving stories of healing and transformation.
and Lonely Boa:
Lonely Boa combines bedroom pop sentimentality with dreamy violin swells, moody vocals, and electronic flourishes. Floating between ambient, pop, and folk, Eve and Jess seeks to transport listeners to calm and emotional plane.
