Oct 17 2019, 2:39 pm

Various ready-to-eat dried sausages are being recalled from the marketplace due to a risk of Salmonella contamination.

Consumers should not consume the recalled products, which have been sold as indicated in the table below.

You should check to see if you have the recalled products in your home. If you do, they should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

At this time, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. If you think you became sick from consuming one, it’s recommended you call your doctor.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but it can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.

Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.

Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

This recall was triggered by test results. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which could lead to further product recalls. If other high-risk products are recalled, the public will be notified through updated Food Recall Warnings.
