DoorDash launches new holiday gifting feature across Canada

At this point, I think we’ve all been in a certain situation when it comes to third-party delivery platforms.

Chances are someone in your life has celebrated a birthday, wedding, the birth of a baby, or had a really bad day since the beginning of the pandemic, and you’ve probably wanted to send them a treat to show some love.

That action is so sweet in theory, but in reality, it’s proven to be a bit tricky to surprise and delight someone in a different neighbourhood, town, and province if they don’t know exactly where and when the delivery person will be arriving.

Now, DoorDash has the solution to this problem, and it’s here just in time for the upcoming (and strange) holiday season we’re all about to experience.

Starting today, the delivery app now offers a gifting feature across Canada.

This feature was designed to make sure DoorDash users could successfully send drool-worthy gifts to loved ones from a distance.

It’s pretty simple. Folks just need to choose the treat they want to send as a gift and the app will prompt you toĀ add the recipientā€™s address and number as the delivery location and contact for the delivery person’s reference.

DoorDash customers will be able to choose their gift (champagne, cake, mac n’ cheese, etc) and attach a personalized message enclosed in a digitally animated card.

There are lots of cards for different occasions, so the gifter will have their pick.

Once you place a gifting order, you’ll be prompted that you can share a link with your giftee so they can track the package themselves and get in contact with their delivery person if need be.

It’s a simple way to show love with food, one of our personal favourite hobbies, and we have a feeling it will come in handy this holiday season.

From November 19 through November 27, every customer who gives a gift of $20 or more on DoorDash will receive $10 off their next order.

Looks like sending a gift this week is a win-win for both parties.
