As the strange NHL season continues to tread towards playing in unfamiliar summer territory, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has earned some familiar hardware.
The Molson Cup, awarded to Habs players who’ve received the most number of star selections, has been awarded to Price for the ninth time in his career.
The Habs goalie had been theĀ monthly winner in November, December, January, and ranked second in February.
The Anahim Lake, BC-native finished the regular season ahead of forwards Brendan Gallagher and Nick Suzuki in the standings.

In 58 games this season, Price sported a 27-25-6 record, with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. For a second consecutive season, he led all league tenders in minutes played at 3,439. He ranked first in the NHL in games played (tied with Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets) and placed fifth in wins. Price also recorded his 47th career NHL shutout on February 1, against Florida, passing Ken Dryden to take sole possession of third place in the impressive goaltending history of the Canadiens.
He is now 10 shutouts behind Jacques Plante and 27 behindĀ George Hainsworth for the top spot.

This is Price’s second season in a row earning the Molson Cup. He was also the winner in 2008-09, as well as from 2010-11 to 2014-15. The 32-year-old netminder is now two wins away from his 350th career win with the Canadiens, a category he already leads.

In 2019-20, the Molson Cup scoring system awards three points for a first star selection, two points for a second star selection, and a single point for a third star selection.
