Government of Canada issues official travel advisory for the US

The Government of Canada has issued a travel advisory for the US.

According to the advisory, it is in place due to “natural disasters and climate” and was issued on July 6 following the earthquake in Searles Valley.

“On July 5, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Searles Valley in California,” reads the advisory. “If you are in or around the affected areas: monitor local media, follow the instructions of local authorities.”

The epicentre of the earthquake was located in Ridgecrest, California.

Earthquakes pose a risk in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon and Washington State, says the advisory.

Three significant earthquakes also recently struck off the coast of BC, the strongest of which occurred on Wednesday, July 3, measuring 6.2 magnitude.
