With all the longtime Toronto Blue Jays players leaving town of late, you can excuse fans for being a little on edge about who might be next.
Kevin Pillar was traded to San Francisco on Tuesday, not long after fans saw Russell Martin, Troy Tulowitzki, and Josh Donaldson leave town.
Justin Smoak seems like the next most obvious candidate to be sold off, given the team is rebuilding and the first baseman is now 32 years old. So when the Blue Jays announced their lineup for Thursday’s game in Cleveland and Smoak wasn’t listed, this was the reaction from one fan on Twitter:
Did you trade Smoak? 😤😭

Credit to the Blue Jays’ social media department, who spent the time to explain what was ailing Smoak.
No, he has neck tightness and could be available to pinch hit if needed.

But what happened next likely had more than a few people literally laughing out loud:
Literally us, the Blue Jays.

“Literally us.” Magnificent.
Is “literally us, the Blue Jays” gonna be a thing? Because it should.

The Jays went on to lose the game 4-1, dropping their record to 3-5 on the season, but the day gave us “literally us” on a t-shirt, so I’m going to call that a win.
