Well, isn’t that a pretty sight.

Just four days before the city-wide plebiscite on whether or not Calgary should move forward with a bid on the 2026 Winter Olympics, the group in charge of putting the bid together has released renderings of what the event’s main venue might look like.

Calgary 2026 posted four renderings of a future McMahon Stadium to their Facebook page on November 9, showing the home of the potential opening and closing ceremonies.

“Improved accessibility, better spectator experience and advancements in technology are just some of the enhancements that would be made to existing ’88 facilities,” the post read.

“Check out these striking images of McMahon Stadium, which would be home to the opening and closing ceremonies for the Calgary 2026 Games.”

The images are definitely striking, though with the price tag of $5 billion hovering over the Games — at least $370 million of which coming from the City of Calgary — Calgarians will have quite the decision to make come November 13.
