Passport

Guys – if you must stop reading the article past this, then so be it, but THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT! Don’t forget your passport.

Luggage

We try to keep our packing in carry-on size no matter what trip we go on.

Perks: you keep it with you at all times so there’s a lesser chance of it getting lost, you don’t have to wait at the baggage claim, and it’ll force you to pack light on your trip, which is a good thing!

Our favourite carry-on piece is Herschel’s Trade Carry-On luggage. Its hard shell means your belongings won’t get squished, while also staying separate thanks to the mesh divider on the inside.

The suitcase’s trolley handle and four swivel wheels make it smooth and easy to roll across the terminal, and its Travel Sentry Approved TSA combination lock can keep your stuff safe and sound.

Oh yeah, and it’s so damn cute!

Neck pillow

No matter if you’re a head-bobber or a snuggle-against-the-window type, a neck pillow is so key to add a little extra comfort.

Eye mask

It’s always difficult to get your beauty sleep on long flights, so you deserve all the help you can get. Bring an eye mask to shield your eyes from the bright lights of the plane and hopefully get some shut-eye.

Also, this has not been scientifically proven but I’m pretty sure they work better when they are in the form of a sleeping sheep…

Earplugs

Shut out that baby crying behind you. Namaste.

Layers

The temperature on airplanes is always varying, but more often than not, we end up shivering under the air vents. Always bring a sweater or scarf to keep yourself warm and cozy on the flight.

Entertainment

You’re on a plane, which means that you’re hopefully going somewhere exciting, but the en-route boredom can be real. Make sure to bring a few things to keep yourself occupied while in the air, especially if your aircraft doesn’t have TV screens.

Consider a laptop, iPad or phone, earphones to listen to the shows (or music), crossword puzzle, Sudoku, or maybe even a good ol’ fashioned book to read. Those still exist, Millennials!

Snacks

Our favourite way to pass the time (on a flight or off) has to be snackin’. Especially when you are deprived of an in-flight meal service, bringing snacks on board is very key. For the sake of your neighbours, try to stay away from anything too crunchy or smelly!

Spare clothing

We speak from experience when we advise on carrying on a spare pair of socks, underwear, bathing suit, or whatever you think you’ll need ASAP. There’s always a possibility of your checked luggage getting lost, and although most airlines offer lost baggage compensation, you’ll want to have your necessities when you land in case you’re one of the unlucky ones.

Okay that’s it, you’re ready to jet off. Happy travels, friends!
