T&T Supermarket is suspending voluntary temperature checks for customers

Popular Asian grocery store chain T&T Supermarket has announced it will be suspending voluntary temperature checks for customers effective June 9.

Introduced as a health and safety measure amid the pandemic, T&T started offering patrons temperature checks on April 20.

The reason for the suspension of these checks for customers? The store says that the summer season, and subsequent heat, will bring “inaccurately high” temperatures for customers waiting in lines outside.

While this service will be temporarily suspended for customers, it will remain mandatory for all T&T employees.

The store says masks will continue to reduce the risk, but also stated that families will be limited to purchasing just one box of non-medical masks at its stores to ensure stock is available.

T&T will reassess the need for voluntary temperature checks after the summer season.
