Starbucks to open grab-and-go service at stores across Canada

May 28 2020, 3:38 pm

Starbucks is taking another step towards reopening its stores fully across the country.

The coffee chain will now be welcoming walk-in and takeout orders, meaning folks can actually step into their local branch and place an order to-go.

Prior to this, Starbucks was only allowing customers to order via drive-thru, pickup at an entryway, and through Starbucks Delivers through mobile ordering.

Starbucks will not be opening its cafes or patio seating yet, so it will be still a grab-and-go situation for coffee lovers.

Customers will notice Starbucks employees wearing facial coverings, floor markers for physical distancing, and plexi-shields at the POS.

The company is recommending patrons download the Starbucks App for contactless pay, but people can now pay for their grab-and-go offerings using any method they would like.

Starbucks fans also have the option to order ahead, pay with the app, and grab their goods at a designated handoff area inside the cafe or at the drive-thru.

By this weekend, two-thirds of stores across Canada will offer grab-and-go service. Starbucks says dine-in seating openings will be determined on a community-by-community basis, and when they are available, expect limited capacities.
