Rogers outage affecting cellphone customers across Canada

Many Rogers customers woke up Monday morning to find they were unable to make calls or use their cellphone’s data plan.

The telecom provider said on Twitter around 9 am EST that some users were experiencing service disruptions and that it’s working to fix the problem.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to provide regular updates,” Rogers said.

A Rogers spokesperson declined to answer Daily Hive’s questions about what caused the outage, how many customers are affected, and whether the company would provide any bill relief to those who had service interrupted.

“We know how important it is to stay connected and are working hard to restore services for customers who are experiencing interruptions with wireless voice and data – residential and business wireline internet services are not impacted. We sincerely apologize and thank our customers for their patience,” the spokesperson said via email.

Many customers tweeted their disappointment with Rogers on Monday, including some whose cellphone is their only method of communication during COVID-19-mandated Stay-at-Home orders.

Some Rogers customers said their service has been out since just after midnight, and they haven’t been able to make any calls or use any data since.
