An update from the Province of Alberta has supplied new info on coronavirus cases in the province.

According to the Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw, there have been 19 new cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of known cases to 6,879.

However, of that total only 762 are still active, the majority of which are found in the Calgary zone.

There were three new deaths over the past 24 hours, bringing the total coronavirus-related deaths to 138 in Alberta.

“These deaths are a reminder of the worst-case scenario outcome from this virus,” Hishaw said, “and are why we need to continue to take this seriously.”

She also added that 3,010 coronavirus tests were conducted in the province over the past 24 hours.

Total recoveries have reached 5,979 in Alberta, and there are currently 45 cases in hospital, five of which are in intensive care units.
