A recent ranking of the world’s most punctual airlines and airports includes two Alberta airports among the globe’s best of the best.

A recently released report by the Official Aviation Guide — a travel data platform — has ranked the world’s top airports in five size categories — small, medium, large, major, and mega — and then ranked for the top 20 in each category.

According to the OAG Punctuality League for 2020, Calgary ranked at number 17 in the large airports category — with ten to 20 million seats — and an on-time percentage of 80.72%.

Edmonton came in at number 20 in the medium airports category — with five to ten million seats — and an on-time-percentage of 79.89%

No other Canadian airports made the ranking, putting Alberta on the map.

The top spot went to Minsk Airport in Belarus, the most punctual airport, with an on-time-percentage of 92.6 in the small airports category, with two to five million seats.

The data is based on 57.5 million flight records using full-year data from 2019, to create a best on-time performance record for the world’s largest airlines and airports.
