Bud Light Canada just hosted a Pride-inspired summer camp

Lip sync karaoke, pink flamingo croquet, drag make-up tutorials, and a beach day were some of the highlights at Bud Light CAMP held recently at a camp just north of Toronto and hosted by our very own ‘Queen of the North’ Brooke Lynn Hytes.

“I love that Bud Light Canada has a longstanding commitment to Pride and it’s refreshing to see a brand continue to evolve as our community evolves,” Lynn Hytes tells Daily Hive. “Now more than ever, it’s imperative to create a safe and fun environment for all, and Bud Light Camp championed this from start to finish. This camp-y weekend allowed people from the LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies to get the ultimate summer camp experience, uniquely as adults, and was truly an unforgettable experience.”

The Bud Light CAMP welcomed all members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and its allies to a weekend full of outrageous activities that focused on celebrating coming out and being their most authentic selves, while maintaining a nostalgic “camp” vibe.

Activities included Gimme S’more Campfire, Fly Your Own Flag Zipline, and the Slip and Slay Relay — sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it?

As part of Bud Light’s 2022 Pride celebrations, the theme ‘camp’ was chosen to mark an over-the-top event that thrives on nostalgia and creates a sense of community. This year, Bud Light is also donating $100,000 to various organizations supporting the LGBTQIA2S+ community right across Canada.

And, they’ve released their limited-edition Pride cans featuring a unique pronoun-inspired design, celebrating all members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Fresh from overseeing the Bud Light CAMP, Lynn Hytes describes the venue as “an inclusive space, centred around community.”

She was ably assisted during the camp by other major Canadian influencers.

Viktor Peters (aka Veruschka) taught a drag makeup class for beginners, Alex Pollard put on an awesome dance class, Rémi Desgagné hosted an art class and Cheyenne Catchpole led a cheer 101 class to get teams hyped up for the Rainbow Games competition.

What excited Lynn Hytes most about the Bud Light CAMP was the freedom to “bring the CAMP”. She enjoyed adding her own creative spin and had space to be her complete, authentic self. “Plus, I really enjoyed meeting people within the LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies in an outrageously fun environment,” Lynn Hytes says.

“For all my followers who were not able to be with us at camp in real life, you can still celebrate the unique gender identities of Canadians through Bud Light’s new, limited-edition pronoun-inspired Pride cans, available for purchase throughout the month of June, while supplies last,” Lynn Hytes says.
