Just in time for the holiday long weekend, Beyond Sausage has officially hit grocery store shelves across Canada.

Now available at major retailers, the plant-based “pork” sausages provide an option for those craving that Victoria Day at-home BBQ taste, without the actual meat involved.

Beyond Sausage is made from plant-based ingredients without GMOs, soy, or gluten, but still manage to deliver juicy, sizzling satisfaction. The links can be done up in a pan or over the grill, and are available in two flavours: Mild Italian and Hot Italian.

Inside, you get protein from peas and rice, juiciness from coconut oil, meaty colour from beets, and a casing that’s derived from — wait for it — algae.

Compared to a leading pork sausage brand, the Beyond option offers 16g of plant-based protein per serving, which is 2g more than traditional pork, up to 44% less saturated fat, up to 34% less total fat, and up to 52% less sodium.

Plus, the plant-based option has no cholesterol, antibiotics or hormones, and is Kosher and Halal Certified.

You’ll find Beyond Sausage in the fresh meat case of major grocery retailers priced at $9.99.
