Another Albertan has died of COVID-19 as the province recorded 18 more known cases on Saturday.

These new cases bring Alberta’s number of active infections to 814, the province noted in a news release. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Alberta has seen 6,818 coronavirus cases.

The virus has so far claimed 135 lives in the province.

The province says hospitalization rates remain low, with 48 people in hospital as of Saturday. Of those, six are in intensive care.

Starting on Monday, May 25, Alberta will begin offering coronavirus testing to all staff and residents at long-term care homes even if they’re asymptomatic.

Several other health services will also resume Monday, including non-urgent surgeries that require a hospital stay.
