Calgary's YYC Music Awards announce the 2016 artist nominees

Aug 31 2016, 11:51 pm

With 2016 proclaimed as Calgary’s Year of Music, local industry veterans have announced the inaugural year of the YYC Music Awards.

Taking place on September 25 at Studio Bell, the YYC Music Awards celebrates the wide range of musical talent in Calgary. The Awards organizers recently announced the artist nominees for the year, honouring artists in 18 different categories.

“We are very excited to announce the list of nominees for this year. It was a longer process than anticipated that involved going back to our voting committee to break ties in several categories.  We feel this is a clear statement on the strength of the musicians and artists in our city and as difficult as it was it is shaping up to be a very exciting event,” said co-organizer Leanne Harrison in a media release.

The YYC Music Awards are founded by Darren Gilbert (Producer, Off The T-Can Studios), Shannon Ambrose (The PORTAL Magazine), Larry Mayell (Artist Manager), and Leanne Harrison and Sarah Fielder (SIN Agency).
