The free Summer Pop-Up Picnics Series is about to start up again this year in Calgary – all you need to do is bring lunch and some friends.
The picnics, which begin this Wednesday, June 22 and run through August 24, are community lunch hours which take place in various locations around town.
Between noon and 1 pm, organizers supply tables, chairs and entertainment; each picnic has a unique theme and will be in a different location every week.
This Wednesday, the theme is Magic. Expect a magic show, a levitation photo booth and a giant six-foot balloon bunny, as well as lots of local vendors and music performances.
Pop-Up Picnics are organized by Downtown Calgary and are completely free, family-friendly and open to the public. Here’s the list of picnics and themes scheduled this year:
June 22 – Harley Hotchkiss Park – Magic
June 29 – McDougall Centre Grounds – Sinatra in the Park
July 6 – J. Bowlen Park – Green Fools Circus Camp
July 13 – Harley Hotchkiss Park – Shakespeare on the Bow
July 20 – Fifth Avenue Place – Princess Party
July 27 – First Canadian Centre – Shakespeare by the Bow
Aug 3 – Suncor Energy Centre – Flamenco
Aug 10 – Eighth Avenue Place – Stress Relief
Aug 17 – Harley Hotchkiss Park – Beakerhead
Aug 24 – Bankers Hall Turtle Park – Green Fools
