Share your favourite Father’s Day–themed dish for a chance to win a gift card

Food is in many ways the glue that keeps us all together.

We don’t often enough take the time to acknowledge the expression of love and creativity that comes with cooking a meal for someone. But food is also a meaningful way of spending time with the people in your life.

Whether you’re sitting down for a family meal or celebrating a milestone, food is the universal language of bringing people together — and Father’s Day is no exception.

That’s why Save-On-Foods is launching its #NourishingConnections campaign to inspire Canadians to share their own Father’s Day–themed concoctions and culinary adventures.

The mission is to get people to connect over a mutual love of food and time together. The campaign is already underway with previous weekly themes focused around family, relationships, and working from home.

The next theme has already been announced by this week’s Save-On-Foods ambassador and shared on the Save-On-Foods Facebook and Instagram pages. This week, they’re providing the opportunity to share your favourite dad-approved dishes!

Participating is super easy: simply share a photo showing how you are combining food and connections at home this Father’s Day with the hashtag #NourishingConnections, and follow and tag @saveonfoods.

Enter by June 21st and you could be surprised with one of Save-On-Foods’ random $250 gift card giveaways!

Upcoming weekly themes will also include a Canada Day component for those looking to put a culinary spin on their celebrations.

Save-On-Foods has been committed to bringing affordable and sustainable food options to Western Canada for over a hundred years.

That’s why they understand food is more than just a way of nourishing your body with delicious ingredients; it’s also a means of nurturing your creativity and fostering relationships with loved ones over a home-cooked meal.

And, in this instance, it’s also a fun way of showing some love for the wonderful dads in our lives.

In need of some inspiration? While no two dads are the same, there’s a good chance yours has a soft spot for the grill. There’s no going wrong with a mean burger, or some barbecued meats and greens.

Looking back on your favourite childhood meals is also a good place to start. What first comes to mind when you think of what your dad cooked for you growing up? Putting your own spin on it can be a fun role reversal and bring back some fond memories.

If minimum effort and maximum enjoyment is more your style, we’ve never met a dad that didn’t like pizza (maybe even throw in a 6-pack). The only catch is that it needs to be homemade, which, let’s get real, is way more fun anyway.

While this year’s Father’s Day celebrations might look and feel a little different, your stomach sure won’t be able to tell the difference. So, take your gratitude for dad straight to the kitchen this year and whip up whatever feels right.

Be sure to enjoy it in the company of those you hold dear (virtual meals count!) and share it online using the hashtag #NourishingConnections and tagging @saveonfoods to connect with others participating across Western Canada.
