Canada's Kaitlyn Bristowe to compete on 'Dancing with the Stars'

It looks like 2015’s ‘Bachelorette,’ Kaitlyn Bristowe, will be back on TV screens later this year to compete on the 29th season of Dancing With the Stars.

Bristowe, a Leduc, Alberta native and Vancouver resident, first appeared on The Bachelor‘s 19th season before becoming the titular lead in the eleventh season of The Bachelorette.

She was invited to participate in the upcoming season of DWTS at the end of Monday night’s episode of “The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever!” which took a look back at Bristowe’s season.

Franchise host Chris Harrison dropped the question via video call, but not before mistakenly thinking that her partner, Jason Tartick of “The Bachelorette” season 14, was proposing.

Still, she was visibly excited at the prospect of competing on DWTS.

“I feel like this is back to the moment where you told me I was the Bachelorette. That is the last thing in the world I thought you were going to say. I thought you were going to ask me to take over your job,” Bristowe said.

“I’m so honoured to say yes.”

Bristowe had previously taken shots at Bachelor franchise creator Mike Fleiss in 2017, claiming that Fleiss had stopped her from competing on the show after being offered a spot in 2015.

“Actually I was offered it, had the contract and Mike Fliess told me I wasn’t allowed. He said he didn’t want people wanting fame after his show,” she had tweeted.

Fleiss then tweeted that Bristowe “has my total support if she wants to appear on DWTS.”

“Thanks, I’ll get right on that opportunity [two years] ago. I wonder what changed your mind?” she responded.

Bristowe had also spoken to the situation in a 2019 episode of “Talkhouse Podcast.”

“They won’t let me [go on DWTS], ever. I’ll tell you exactly why I can’t go on Dancing with the Stars. Anybody that listens to this podcast knows why I cannot go on Dancing with the Stars,” Bristowe had said. “And it’s because, and I will say this with a mic in my hand and a smile on face, that Mike Fleiss is a piece of shit. He is the creator of The Bachelor, and he hates women.”

The episode can be listened to in its entirety here.

Dancing With the Stars usually premiers in September, though it is still unclear if this year’s season will face scheduling changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
