If you thought you missed out on the chance to attend the best event of the summer, boy have we got news for you!

After the beloved Half Corked Marathon released its 1,500 tickets in the lottery back in November 2018, many wine-lovers-slash-marathon-runners were left disappointed they weren’t able to get in on the action. But the dream is not dead yet people, because the organizers have announced an increase in capacity for the 2019 event, and will be releasing 100 new tickets on March 12, 2019, at 9 am.

Taking place this year on May 24-26, the event brings together people from across North America and beyond for fun exercise, festive outfits, delicious food, and best of all, wine.

Set in the beautiful hills of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country, the 18 km route weaves through vineyards and winery stations, as participants get more and more, well, enthusiastic along the way.

“During our general ticket lottery, held every October, we see over 6,000 people trying to get their hands on Half Corked Marathon tickets,” says Jennifer Busmann, executive director of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country, organizers of the race weekend. “We realized how frustrating it is for those who aren’t successful in the lottery and so have carved out space to increase our capacity this year and offer 100 extra tickets to allow more friendship groups to come together in our region.”

Now in its 11th year, the Marathon is one of Canada’s most loved events, even winning Canada’s Event of the Year at he 2017 Canadian Tourism Awards.

It has grown to encompass two days of festivities including long table dinner Primavera (a long table dinner) and Dinner in the Park (an intimate winemaker dinner).

Numerous wineries also hold events throughout the weekend – from the Tinhorn Creek concert series featuring The Matinée to Road13’s Recovery BBQ and a Pancake Breakfast at Oliver Twist.
