The National Music Centre is pleased to present Émile Bilodeau, the first Artist in Residence of 2018 in partnership with ADISQ.
An energetic singer-songwriter, Bilodeau released his debut opus, Rites de passage, in the fall of 2016, rapidly selling 15,000 copies and reaching over 3 million streams. The album’s first single, “J’en ai plein mon cass,” ranked No. 1 in the BDS pop rock charts. At the 2017 ADISQ ceremony, he took home the Revelation of the Year award and was nominated for Folk Album of the Year. Clearly, he has gone through his rites of passage with flying colours!
A rare musical phenomenon, Bilodeau has conquered every major festival in Quebec: FrancoFolies de Montréal, Le Festif! in Baie-Saint-Paul, the Festival d’été de Québec, and Festivoix in Trois-Rivières. Offering a unique brand of folk infused with blues and pop-rock, this rising artist continues to win over audiences, and in 2017 alone, he gave over 150 performances.
See him share his creative process and provide a taste of new music at this public workshop at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre.
