Former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay was performing stunts with high levels of amphetamines in his system before a fatal plane crash on November 7, 2017, according to a National Transportation Safety Board report.

Halladay’s amphetamine levels were approximately 10 times greater than therapeutic levels in his blood, to go with a high level of morphine and an anti-depressant, according to the report.

Multiple witnesses in the area stated that they saw Halladay’s airplane “flying very low, between 5 and 300 ft, over the water as the airplane maneuvered south close to the shoreline.”

Some witnesses reported that the plane was “making steep turns and high-pitch climbs,” the report adds, with a commercial fisherman observing the plane was flying “really close” to houses.

The plane eventually nose-dived into the water near Tampa, Florida, claiming Halladay’s life at just age 40.

A two-time Cy Young Award winner and eight-time All-Star, Halladay pitched 12 seasons with the Blue Jays and four years with the Philadelphia Phillies. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame last year, during his first year on the ballot.
