Looking for a job?

The gigantic, 600,000-sq-ft Amazon fulfillment centre in Balzac, Alberta is looking for seasonal workers as we head into the holidays, with hundreds of Seasonal Fulfillment Associate positions opening up.

The centre was first announced last October and eventually opened for business in late summer. A tour of the new facility was given in June, and Amazon reps even stopped by the Calgary Stampede to share some information about what the new jobs would be like during a pancake breakfast.

1,000 full-time positions opened up for the centre in August, according to a release from Amazon, and those who found jobs as associates have been picking, packing, and shipping customer items out of the facility.

Now, they’re looking for additional employees to account for the influx of packages expected to be shipped throughout the holiday season.

A release from Amazon states that all hourly workers will receive day-one benefits that include medical, dental, and visual insurance, along with performance-based bonuses, RSP plan, company stock awards, and competitive hourly wages.

It was also stated that seasonal positions have the potential to turn into careers and that full-time Amazon employees will be eligible for Amazon’s Career Choice program, which pays up to 95% of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields — even if they don’t have any relevance to a career at Amazon.

Those looking to apply can fill out an application form at the company’s website, must be at least 18-years-old, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Once you’ve successfully applied, you’ll be able to walk into the Amazon hiring event at their fulfillment centre this week during the following hours to receive a job offer on the spot:

Tuesday, October 30: 11 am to 6 pm
Wednesday, October 31: 10 am to 2 pm
Thursday, November 1: 11 am to 7 pm
Friday, November 2: 10 am to 2 pm
Saturday, November 3: 11 am to 2 pm

Applicants are asked to bring government issue ID and a cell phone to the hiring event.

Pay starts at $15.25 per hour.
